About Us
Profitas was formed in 2007 as a partnership between two experienced
accounting professionals, Howard Karp and Jon Blumberg.
Prior to forming Profitas LLC, Howard worked as a controller for some of the top labels in the recording industry. Jon formerly managed The Artists Community Federal Credit Union and has an extensive background working as a bookkeeper for companies spanning many different industries.
Meet the principals
Jon Blumberg
PRESIDENT
Jon Blumberg co-founded Profitas LLC in 2008 to bring quality and affordable bookkeeping services to small and medium sized businesses. Over the last 11 years, Profitas has grown to service over 100 ongoing clients and employ 12 bookkeepers.
Profitas consistently exceeds the expectations of clients by providing monthly financial reports that are invaluable in making strategic business decisions and that allow for seamless tax filing. Profitas has also designed its infrastructure to allow employees the freedom to work on their own schedule and thus design their lifestyle in any way they like.
Jon lives in San Francisco with his wife Tiffany, their two daughters Scarlett and Harper, and their dog Lucy. When not working with clients, Jon can be found cooking a gourmet meal for his family, taking Lucy to the beach or playing a way too serious game of volleyball with friends. Jon has traveled to over 40 countries and can't wait for his next opportunity to see more of the world.

Howard Karp

Howard Karp is co-founder and CEO of Profitas. Howard has more than 20 years of experience providing expert-level financial resources. Clients turn to Howard to gain a sense of control over the strengths and weaknesses of their businesses without the expense of adding an executive level staff member to their payroll.
Howard recruits elite bookkeepers skilled in QuickBooks Online with experience in the legal, real estate, design, and non-profit industries, among others, to best address clients’ needs. These specialized bookkeepers receive ongoing support from Howard, who adds a layer of guidance and supervision that differentiates Profitas from the competition.
On the personal side, when away from his desk, Howard has always had a passion for numbers, patterns, and order, specifically as these relate to the foundation of music and his favorite game, chess. He pursued an undergraduate degree in music at the University of Miami, but after graduation he was quick to realize that music is not a particularly easy way to make a living. He went back to school for an MBA, where he found a good use for that love of numbers, patterns, and order.
Howard lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn, with his wife Jennifer, and their two daughters, Samara and Aviva. He’s trying to convince the family to get a dog.
